We have heard that these Karthigai pengal only brought up Lord Muruga in his childhood. Karthigai
pengal are Rishis, their names are Nitharthani, Abarakendhi, Mekendhi, Varthayendhi, Amba, Thula.
They are also called as Bharani, Kiruthigai, Rohini, Pusam, Uthiram, Visagam. One day Lord Siva get
anger on them and cursed that they would be rocks in the place of pattamangai. Karthigai pengal
realized their mistakes and asked the Lord Siva for redemption. For that Lord Siva told that he would
come as guru from Madurai and give redemption after thousand years. As he said after thousand years
he gave redemption to Karthigai pengal . Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamiji has consecrated
idols of such a Karthigai Pengal in Vellore District Walajapet Danvantri Peedam. The idol is consecrated
as Lord Muruga in his blooming face as Gnaguru of 468 siddhas with all the six Karthigai Pengal , also
with the things like his peacock, milk bowl, cock, sun and moon. This shows the importance of brought
up mother . Lord Muruga also likes karthigai pengal more than Goddess Parvathi. Swamiji consecrated
karthigai pengal in Danvantri Peedam and doing poojas, yagams in the days of sasti, kirutigai, Visagam.
Moreover coming Saturday 08.08.15 in honor of Aadi kirthigai homam and special poojas are going to
held. Devotees are requested to participate in this homam and get the graces of Karthigai kumaran,
