Atri, a great scholar, is acknowledged as one of the seven famous Rishis (sages) immortalised by the constellation Sapta Rishi. He is considered to be one of the great discoverers of scared mantras.

Anasuya, literally meaning free from envy and jealousy, was his wife.Atri and Anusuya had 3 sons namely, Soma or Chandra (the Moon) from Lord Brahma; Lord Dattatreya from Lord Maha Vishnu; and sage Durvasa from Lord Siva. Atri gotra refers to the lineage of Atri and Anasuya . Soma, as the incarnation of Lord Brahma, has the power to cause any species to perpetuate.

This abode venerates the institution of a family.
