The malefic planetary conjunctions are the phases in one's life when one's aura gets darkened. Such a person is like one groping in the darkness. His thoughts and activities are misguided. The vibrations radiating from him displease others.
It is possible to reduce the suffering due to the unfavorable position of planets through sincere reliance on God, the One who controls the planets. Puja is the act of showing reverence to a god or another aspect of the divine through invocations, prayers and rituals. An essential part of puja for the Hindu devotee is making a spiritual connection with the divine.
The Indwelling Lord cannot turn a deaf ear to a soulful prayer said with an open heart. There are several pujas which people can do for specific events, such as the starting of a business, or the beginning of a journey. The benefit of this type of puja is to remove obstacles. The pujas are performed on behalf of those who request them by us.

We can enhance the benefit of the puja by doing spiritual practices or by taking certain vows. Some of the commonly observed practices include meditation, fasting, silence, prayer, mantra japa or repeating God's name, charity.
These vows can be done for one day, one week or as long as you wish. The result of these actions is to help purify us and to enable us to imbibe more deeply the spiritual energy invoked by the puja.
Pournami
Pournami is a day of importance for Shiva, this occurs once in a month.
Sashti Puja
Sashti is another day of importance to Sri Murugan. It usually falls a few days after Amavasai of the month. Devotees undertake fastings and prayers on the occurance of this day every month for a period usually a year or three years.
Sankadagara Chaduri Puja
Sadhurthi is a day of importance for Lord Ganesh(Vinayaga), and is considered auspicious to initiate with any new endeavour, job or project. This occurs twice every month once during the growing moon period and once during the waning moon period.
Pradosham Puja
Pradosham is a day of importance for Eswarar (Shiva). This occurs twice every month once during the growing moon period and once during the waning moon period.
Ekadasi
Ekadasi is a day of special importance to Vaishnavites. It denotes special importance with respect to Lord Venkateshwara.
Sankatahara Chadurthi
Sankata (means problems) and Hara (means killing or removing) and therefore Sankata Hara Chadurthi is a day to invoke Lord Ganesh's blessings to remove all problems in life. Every month, the chadurthi falling after the full moon is Sankatahara Chadurthi.
Theipirai, Valarpirai - Ashtami
Ashtami and Pournami Thithis are considered very auspicious for Lord Bairavar. It is believed that one who worships this Bairavar on Ashtami Thithi will be freed from all debts and loans. It is also believed that property disputes will be solved by worshipping this Bairavar.
