Ashta Bhairavar Yagam With Swarna Kala Bhairavar Yagam.

With the blessings of our guruji “Yagnasri Kayilai Gnanaguru” Dr Muralidhara Swamigal, we are conducting Ashta Bhairavar Yagam with Swarna Kala Bhairavar Yagam on Theipirai Ashtami 28.01.2019 Monday morning 10.00 AM and evening 5.00 PM at our Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam, Walajapet.

Bhairavar is an extremely aggressive form of the supreme God of destruction, Lord Shiva. He is also regarded as his wandering form. There are as many as 64 Bhairavars, who are all guarding the cardinal points and controlling the directions. Kala Bhairavar is the chief of the Bhairavars and is regarded as the supreme ruler of universal time. Kala Bhairavar is also held as the guardian deity of the sanctum in the temple, and hence, it is a traditional practice to leave its keys in his custody, after the main shrine is locked. Bhairavar’s mount is the dog. Of the 64 Bhairavars, 8 are of special significance and are considered as very important manifestations of Shiva. They are together known as Ashta Bhairavars.

Kala Bhairavar :

The Swarna Akarshana Bhairava is a benevolent form whose name means Gold attracting Bhairavar, i.e. when appeased this form of Lord Bhairavar will grant the devotees with gold. This form of Bhairavar is red complexioned and depicted wearing a gold colored robe. He has a moon placed on his head, has four hands and carries a golden vessel. He is known to grant boons of wealth and prosperity. Swarna Akarshana Bhairavar is also known as Dhanakarshana Bhairavar.

Ashta Bhairavar :

Ashta Bhairavar, the 8 famous forms of Bhairavar remain as the widely worshipped Bhairavar forms of Lord Shiva. Though they are normally taken together for many rituals and worships, they are unique Godly beings with distinct characteristics. They are said to represent the five fundamental elements like space, air, water, fire and earth and also the Sun, the Moon and the soul. These 8 Gods are called as –Asitanga Bhairavar, Ruru Bhairavar, Chanda Bhairavar, Krothana Bhairavar, Unmatha Bhairavar, Kapaala Bhairavar, Bhishana Bhairavar and Samhara Bhairavar.
