Lord Danavantri :
According to the Hindu scriptures and traditions, Lord Danvantri is an incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu. As per the Vedas and Puranas, Sri Danvantri is considered as the Physician of the Gods (Deva Vaidya). Hindus believe that worshiping and praying to him can improve their health. Danvantri is also considered as the God of Medicine.
Myth Behind the Birth of Lord Danvantri :
During the time of churning the ocean of milk by Gods and demons for Amrit’ (nectar), Lord Danvantri emerged from the ocean with a pot of Amrit. On the same day Goddess Mahalakshmi also born. Hence people celebrate the birthdays of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Danvantri on the same day.
Danvantri Jayanthi - Day To Worship The God of Ayurveda :
Dhanteras is the day which marks the beginning of Deepavali. It is celebrated on the 13th day of the Karthikai month according to the Hindu calendar. It is the day Lord Vishnu took the avatar of Lord Danvantri. The same day Goddess Laksmi also took Avatar. So the day Dhanteras is also the Jayanti Day of Goddess Lakshmi. ‘Dhan' literally means wealth and ‘tera' means thirteenth. On this day, Goddess Sri Lakshmi is worshipped in all Hindu households along with Lord Danvantri. On the auspicious day of Dhanteras, the devotees who do prayers and worships will get benefited by Good Health and Wealth.
Sri Danvantri Jayanthi - The National Ayurveda Day (25th October 2019) :
The Dhanwantari Jayanti (Dhanteras) is celebrated every year as The National Ayurveda Day. Ayurveda is perceived as one of the most ancient and well documented system of medicine equally relevant in modern times. Its holistic approach whether for healthy individuals or for diseased ones remains unparalleled. Prevention of disease and promotion of health is the main aim of Ayurveda. Lord Danvantri is considered as divine propagator of Ayurveda. He is conferred with the virtues of granting health and wealth. Therefore, Dhanvantari Jayanthi was preferred for celebration of Ayurveda Day to nationalize this system of medicine which can prove to be a cornerstone for its ultimate globalization In South India, mainly in Tamilnadu and Kerala some temples are dedicated to Lord Dhanvantari. 1008 Kalasa Theertha Thirumanjanam and Deepavali Lehyam :
On the auspicious day of Lord Danvantri Jayanthi,25.10.2019 Friday from 10.00 AM to 12.00 PM, we Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam, Walajapet performing 1008 Kalasa Theertha Thirumanjanam, Nava Kalasa Thirumanjanam with Maha Danvantri Homam to Moolavar Sri Danvantri Perumal with the blessings of our Guruji “Yagnasri Kayilai Gnanaguru” Dr. Sri Muralidhara Swamigal. On that day evening 4.30 PM, the making of Deepavali Lehyam will take place. The Deepavali Lehyam is a Herbal Medicine, which can cure many diseases. The Lehyam will be distributed to the devotees on the day of Deepavali after the Nivethanam to Sri Danvantri Perumal is done.
