Pavithrotsavam is a religious ceremony performed annually for purification. As per scriptures that guide the rituals to be performed in the temples, this religious function is performed every year to maintain a very high level of Divine Power for the deities. This religious program is also a “prayaschitta” event to mitigate the effects of any omissions or shortcomings that might have occurred unknowingly during the worship and services performed to the deities during the year.
The three-day religious ceremony consists of Homam, special abhishekam to Lord Danvantri Mula Murthi and Utsava Murthies and other purification rites in preparation of the Pavitra’s, which are sacred threads in the form of garlands that have been specially procured for this occasion.
On Sunday October 28th, these sanctified “Pavitra’s” will adorn the deities during the “Pavitra Samarpana” sacred ceremony thereby creating an atmosphere charged with religious fervor and divine power to the deities. At the conclusion of the religious ceremony, sponsors will receive the pavitra’s that were adorned on deities. Devotees have an excellent opportunity to participate in this religious event and receive divine blessings.
