The Danvantri Jayanthi Festival will be held at the Sri Danvantri
Arogya Peedam, Walajapet, on November 9th and 10th for
the 11th year, Peedam founder kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal has
announced. Lord Mahavishnu took the Danvantri avatar two days before Diwali
on Aipasi trayodasi day. This day is traditionally celebrated as Danvantri
Jayanthi. Some celebrate Danvantri Jayanthi as Aipasi hastha star or Aipasi
swathi star.He is regarded as the one who introduced Ayurveda medicine to the
world. This Danvantri avatar showed to the people that God has came as a doctor and as medicine to heal
them. Sri Danvantri resembles like Lord Vishnu by having concha and chakra in
his back two hands, Amirta and cithalai creeper in his front two hands. In
ancient days in order to remove impure blood from the body they use leech. Our modern medicine also following
this method. So, leech also take place in danvantri idol.To demonstrate this Sri
Muralidhara Swamigal set up the Peedam here to provide a healing touch to the
problems of the people and invoke the blessings of Lord Danvantri to get good
health, wealth and longevity, and seek solution to all problems.On Monday, November 9th 2015, Danvantri Jayanthi will
be celebrated at the Peedam. Sri Muralidhara Swamigal will give Lehiyam which
consists of Aa, pepper,sukku,tippili, and jaggery, specially prepared at the
Peedam by Muralidhara Swamiji. Swamiji give this lehiyam which cures diseases and
also as Diwali lehiyam by chanting denvantri mantras to the devotees coming to
the peedam on Diwali day .
